Ummm...for the most part no, and I have two different viewpoints on that. There are just as many heavy metal, rock, guitar players out there as there were 20 years ago. The only thing is that untalented rappers have shown up and their music is much more popular especially with teen crowds. So, no guitar is not dead, it's just not as recognized right now. I do hope rock groups come back though. I'm tired of rap. We need people with actual talent...

So long as we have real musicians (i.e., anyone who came before grunge), we'll have good rock 'n roll.
Once they're gone, we're screwed. At least we'll have the records, though :)
