Throughout most of our history we've been expanding. The last states to be added were 50 years ago. Its time to grow some more!

Pop D: I'm part of the reason so much of the world hates america? SO WHAT! Why should any american care about what the rest of the world thinks of us? If the rest of the world hates us, that's THEIR problem.

SimpleGuy, Australia’s background isn't really that different than ours. We were both colonies of England and were settled by immigrants from Europe. Australia has been a great ally, and we appreciate it. In return, you're guaranteed to be defended if needed. We could use the bases there. It would really burn China and Korea! You'd have more influence since you'd get 12 senators, which would be 20% of the senate. We could learn to watch Australian rules football. Its a new idea, but think about it.

This is a joke, right?
OK, I think, NO.
Oz is very good as Oz, and the States are very good as the States. We are allies, but US imperialism in Australia is a BAD IDEA, and would be unwelcome.

Anyone thinking citizenship of USA would improve life, is either completely insane or simply uninformed (as indeed most people are). Life for Americans is more or less hell at present, and is destined to get worse yet. The Federal Reserve is in control of the government there and they want to bankrupt the entire country so they can take it over eventually paying cents on the dollar for all property. You probably think this is a conspiracy theory, but after reading Lynn Meredith's "Vultures in Eagles Clothing" you will change your mind - radically. As for me, I've escaped while the going is still good. Watch out for new laws prohibiting you from leaving the country without paying huge Exit Taxes ! Oh, by the way, Australia is beginning to follow their lead now - so watch that continent too. In 10 years time, anyone remembering these lines will wish they had left both countries when they still could.

I hope the question is just a sarcasm, because the two leaders are such a sweety goody goody buddy, but if you are serious, then I have only this to say to you:
If you are of US citizen, then it just confirms the modern US imperialist government ideology, and you are one of the victim. If you are Australian, then you are the most unpatriotic Australian I have ever seen.
Australia is so much better alone. Australia has a much better standard of living, NOT in terms of materialistic consumption like the ever greedy and wasteful US people, but in terms of quality of life overall. Alas, the latest Industrial Reform in Aaustralia could jeopardise this, let's hope not.
Speaking English alone is by far the worst argument to back the claim to 'annex' Australia. Australians have such a different historical background to the people from US. Besides, their English are not the same anyway, one speaks American, the other speaks Australian. A lot of common ground, but a much more differences in the way of expression, jargons, terms, phrases, and above all, accent MATE!
Seriously, what a stupid suggestion.

Maybe the United States should become a part of Australia.
Because:
a) Both colonised by British
b) Both Speak English
c), d) e) etc all those other dumb ideas you gave. The we can all be the United States of Australia!
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, I'm sure it's obvious to you that you asked a pretty dumb question.

Why would you think the US should make Australia part of the US. I don't believe the Aussies would like to give up their independence. Your question has a very arrogant tone to it and is part of the reason why so many in the world "hate" America today. I just hope George W. Bush and his neo-cons don't see your idea and think it's a good one.

If you had any intellegence you should have said Puerto Rico, Guam, Wake Island, or Samoa should become a part of the United States.

Nah, I'm from the USA, but I think the Australians like their independence. Plus I wouldn't get that colorful stamp on my passport when I visited there if it was part of the USA.
Oh yeah, and our country doesn't look bad. We just look so good nobody else knows what to think of us.

Nooooo. No offence but the U.S isn't exactly an ideal nation to be apart of. Not with Bush in power. Anyway, we are still part of the commonwealth.

1. I'd rather keep them as an ally.
2. We'd have to rearrange the stars on the flag. It's nice as it is.
3. They might have other ideas...
