He usually is posted at a seperate desk than the front desk. The best description is that the concierge is a "fixer". He's the man to go to if you need that last minute show ticket, advice for a great restaurant or any other tips for enjoying the city that you're staying in. Cultivate him, he can be worth his weight in gold, and tip him accordingly when you check out.
