As long as you're both adults and have something in common, age is just a number. In my experience (I'm dating someone 11 years younger) I haven't found it is frowned upon. Some people have questioned it on both sides: what do you see in her? what do you see in him? But we're happy and that's all that counts to the people who care about us.

RE:
Ok for females to date a younger man?
Society seems to accept a much older man dating a younger woman wheras it's easily frowned upon when an older woman dates a younger man. What gives?

Our culture has always been slanted towards the male view This has been changing over the past 30+ years. Men were view as the providers and leaders and the women were view as caretakers of the home and supporters of men. In the 50's,
60's an average worker with or with out a High School Diploma could buy a house on one income. If a women did not want to marry and have children they were frowned upon (spinsters). Men were in control of Jobs, and finances. Women were locked out of the job market or were allowed to work low paying Jobs. (Women were the majority of the Elementary Level teachers and nurses, so those jobs were under paid). Men believed that because they were in control and they deserved more. A below average looking man would expect to date an above average looking women. If a man married a younger women it was view by society that he must have been very successful. If a man married an older women he was either a gold digger (Did she have money from a divorce or deceased husband?) or a failure.
These cultural view were not based on facts but on views of people in power (men). Because of economic and cultural changes these opinions are changing. It is very difficult for a one income family to buy a home. Men are sharing what would have been considered womens work. Because men are getting more involved with the raising of their children and doing chores around the house they are showing an example to their children. Women have been fighting their way into the higher level jobs. More political positions are being won by women. There are more and more older women marrying younger men. Women tend to mature faster than men and they still have a longer life span. Society has not yet completely accepted equality for men and women, but the gap is closing slowly.
Because of many changed

My personal rule is this:
Date a man who is up to five years older than me or two years younger than me.
Anything else is ridicules and from what I've witnessed, the younger always cheats on the older one ... but some people get into enjoying the hurt from being cheated on, so I guess then it's appropriate.

I don't think it really matters anymore with the advent of many celebrities dating younger men. Since women typically live longer than men, I actually think it makes sense to date a younger man.

Historically, dating was a prelude to marriage, which was a prelude to procreation. The older man / younger woman combination was more likely to result in more offspring than vice versa. This was a heck of a lot more important to the human race when there were fewer human beings on the planet. These days, I say anyone can hook up with anyone else, unless you are bound by orthodox, fundamentalist or ultra-conservative doctrine.

It is OK nowadays to date & marry younger men, as long as they're of legal age. e.g. Demi Moore.
But in my family both my mother & her mother in turn married younger men ... and that going back to the 1930's!

Yes it is. Well as long as he is not underage. I feel that it is ok if they are at least 18 years old. My bf is 4 years younger than me and i love him to death.
