baseball, a lot of people dont have the hand eye coordination that it takes.

what about trying to hit a 95 mph fastball with a 4 inch wide bat when you have less then a second to decide to even swing and then you have to hit it.

or have a 100 mph line drive hit at you in the infield and have to get in front of it. Plus, to be good there are so many tools that you need and so much that you have to know to play, baserunning, infield and outfield rotations. soccer is mostly running, there is skill involved so you soccer crazies dont get all mad at me but baseball requires more skill.

Soccer is definately a more physical sport. In baseball, the only time that players get close to each other is if there is going to be a tag, or if someone is rushing the mound. Soccer is also more of a mental game. There are a lot more aspects to soccer than baseball. Such as formations(baseball is always the same), set plays(baseball doesn't have), strategies (the only 2 strategies I've seen in baseball games are either 1. bunt and let the fast guy run around the bases; or 2. hit the ball as hard as you can), and-- like someone else said--to play soccer you have to be very physically fit, where in baseball there are heavier people, and older people who sweat their asses off running around the bases once(total of 360 ft., which is close to soccer field length, but no soccer player runs in a straight line the whole game). Also, for the baseball players--you were talking about trying to hit a 94+ mph fastball with a 4 inch thick bat...unless any of you played in college, semi-pro or pro, you don't really have room to talk because you've probably never hit a ball going that fast either.

Baseball requires more skill to hit that little ball coming at you at 90 or so mph. Remember the great MJ tried and his athletic ability wasn't enough to do it. There is a difference between being able to run up and down a field like in soccer and playing baseball. I know it's the most popular sport worldwide but he shouldn't be so blind to the fact that they are not always the best athletes in baseball but they have the skill to hit and pitch (which is unnatural for a persons arm also).

haha! I am ready to be flamed by all the soccer people, but baseball.
Baseball is a much more mental sport, needing to know where to throw the ball when there is 1, 2 or 3 people on base, depending on which base. But, to get really good at baseball you have to play for many years. I have seen people get really good at soccer in just a couple. And in soccer, you can have people who haven't played before go out and play. But that wont work in baseball. You have to practice throwing, fielding, hitting and stuff.

I think you need to be in better shape with soccer, base ball is more of a statics game. I think soccer, try and work with your feet. it really is hard. Besides baseball everybody dose. anybody that dose a 2 sport career its baseball. It has to be easier for the athlete. I never have seen a 2 sport person with soccer. Allot of people that play both sometimes do get drafted but not play baseball. John elway, is one that comes to mind,
To me Baseball is like the punk sport that people take advantage of. Deion sanders, Bo Jackson. Heak BO Jackson could not play football any more but still played baseball.
look at all the fat players in baseball. people still play baseball in their 40's. Soccer you do not hear about that at all. Soccer is a harder sport that requires more skill.

Baseball requires a variety of different skills. Soccer primarily involves footwork; baseball requires foot speed, hand-eye coordination (for hitting and catching), and throwing accuracy. While soccer requires strong skills on one area, baseball requires a wider variety of skills in different areas.

i would say soccer requires more skills...this is because soccer is a more physically challenging game and it demands you to play 90 minutes or even more.
there are many aspects of soccer that require a tremendous amount of skill.you gotta know how to control the ball or else the opponent can easily steal the ball away from you.....you gotta know how to provide an accurate and measured pass otherwise the ball will be intercepted by the opponents...dribbling past defenders also requires a lot of skill..to dribble the ball succesfully past defenders you need to have good balance,be aware of the defenders around and also control the ball perfectly with good timing...even taking a shot on goal requires a bit of skill in order to strike it hard or even bend the ball...you need to know the exact angle in which you have to shoot the ball so as to curve it .

soccer has a mental aspect to it as well..you need to know the correct decision to make as to whether u must shoot or pass and things like that...you also need to be aware of the players around you in order to provide a good pass..

goal keepers often need to have good eyesight and also good decision making..the goal keepers often do not het much time to sight the ball properly...even to score a goal you must have a broad vision as to where to place the ball so that the goalie doesnt get it and you have very less time to think before the defenders bear down on you unless you have the skill to dodge past them.

keeping all this in mind i would say soccer definately requires more basic skills to play than baseball..cos in baseball only good hand eye coordination and good eyesight is required.
