Most adults need around 50-100 grams of protein a day. People with extremely high activity rates might need more.

Foods that have protein include beans and lentils, grains (including rice and pastas), dairy products, and nuts. Actually, almost every vegetable on the planet has some protein in it, but not in large amounts. If you eat a good balance of those types of foods, you should get all the protein and almost all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

'Tofu' is a good source of protein, protein supplements are also a suggestion though natural food is far better. I'm not sure if Vegeterians drink milk, but milk is quite high in protein (about 30%). Eggs as well - Egg white is pure whey protein. Nuts have alot of protein. Vegeterians also usually have to make combinations of food to get all the essential proteins they need (i.e) you're probably ok if you combine, for example: Legumes with nuts or seeds
Legumes with grains or
Nuts or seeds with grains

Soya is high in protein - so soya beans, soya milk...

That should give you the nine essential amino acids that your body needs. The rest are non-essential and made by your body (you can supplement them with supplements and most of the foods mention above probably contain trace elements).

True vegetarians are eating an un-natural diet. The human body, like it or not, is designed to eat meat. One of the essential things you need is the Vitamin B complexes which aren't found in vegetables. If you must be a vegetarian make sure you take Vitamin B tablets and also Folic Acid. Due to a lack of this my wife now has to have Vitamin injections for the rest of her life as her body no longer digests it no matter how much Vitam B rich food she eats.

There are some very good veggie burgers on the market, which are high in protein. Try "Morningstar" brand and "Boca" brand.
Cottage cheese is high in protein as well, but eat the 1% or 2% because anything more than that is high in fat...

Beans are high in protein but must be used in combination with something like brown rice in order to be a "Complete" protein.

Eat a varied and balanced diet. There is protein everywhere and it's not hard to get (more than) enough.
