Normally an adult should sleep for about 8 hours a day out of which 5 to 6 hours should be continous for our body to maintain normal metabolism and rhythm.
Usually babies and children sleep a lot more than adults do(abt 16-18 hrs), to facilitate the body to develop. As we grow up the amount we sleep reduces and some elderly people get only 6 hours of sleep.
For somebody who is 13 i reckon they should sleep for about 10 hours.
Having said that, there are a cosiderable number of people who sleep less than the above and still go through the following day and another group who spend more time sleeping- which could be normal for them.
However if your sleep pattern has changed recently it is better to consult your doctor to seek advice becoz sleep has always been a good indicator of physical and mental well being.

8-10 is recmmended for teenagers...but your body may need more or less listen to it! not all the scientific research... it's nice to sleep in while you still can...after all school is out and you probebly don't have a job to go to every day... so enjoy it! but don't sleep too much because you'll feel worse than if you slept less and you'll miss out on life......... it has to all be in balence...

8-10 hours. What I hate is when people are like, "you went to bed at 10? that's early! I dont go to bed around midnight." it's so fake, why dont those people just tell the truth.
