This is my second pregnancy with progesterone supplementation. In my first pregnancy I was told to take the pills orally, but this time my doc said to insert them vaginally because of reports by many fertility specialists that this worked better... This has got to be the most inconvenient way to take medicine...
I can assure you - the rest of my 1st pregnancy went perfectly - and I'm now 15 weeks into my 2nd and no longer taking progesterone and everything is looking fine...
Some women who present with low progesterone also develop mild gestational diabetes later in the pregnancy - this is NOT a big deal and most likely will require nothing more than diet modification and an at home glucose monitor... Your doc seems to be on top of things so you should do great!
The cause of low progesterone often has a link to cysts on the ovaries, irregular periods, and insulin resistance...
Congratulations and best wishes!!!

Yes, my cousin and a friend of mine both had this same issue during their pregnancies. This was approx. 10 years ago, and both unfortunately had to go through several miscarriages before docs thought to check progesterone levels. Thank God, when they went on the progesterone therapy you are describing, they each delivered beautiful, healthy, wonderful babies. I am just glad to hear that you are being tested before finding out any other way that you have low progesterone levels. My cousin experienced horrible morning sickness and they had progesterone wafers she could suck, because she wasn't able to keep much down for a while there. Again, once they were ON the progesterone, they had great, normal, pregnancies and deliveries. Best of luck and congratulations!

I had low progesterone when I got pregnant. I was put on progesterone suppositories 100mg/3 times a day until I made it to 12 weeks. I am currently 30 weeks and cannot wait to meet my baby. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby!

I had low progesterone and my dr's refused to give me progesterone supplements saying it wouldn't help.. I have heard good things about progesterone suppositories sustaining a pregnancy, I think your dr. is on top of things and I pray for you that it works.
God Bless.
