Is it because they don't have fingers? I've witnessed this phenomenon many times from living until I began university studies, but I've never been able to get the answer out of them; apparently cows are poor conversationalists.

It's hard to hold a Kleenex with their hooves. They probably get a lot of dirt and debris caught in their nose and this helps get rid of it. It might also be a cooling mechanism for them?

Maybe their noses itch. If a dog can have allergies, why not a cow? A cow's tongue is like very rough sandpaper (it hurts when they lick your face, honest) and I'm sure when they lick their nose, it scratches it.

don't you know? they get so bored with the same diet day in and day out. grass, grass and more grass. they need protein! hence the tongue in nose. it's quicker and just plain yummy for them!
