they could be real,
the first was 'vlad the impaler' later named dracula from what i have gathered vampires are what you make of them.
-everybody has a pair of fangs, canine teeth.
-if they do exist they dont turn into bats,
-they do suck blood {thats a given}
- they may just be deranged people who get a kick from killing people and drinking their blood,
-being bitten is nothing special, you dont become one if your bit in the neckm if your bit in the neck you die man
-immortality is a myth too, im sure they just live for a long time and sold their soul to the devil so that not much can kill them. everything dies -to become one buy a cape and sell your soul
-they CAN come into your house if you dont invite them but if you dont invite them they probably wont forwardly choose you as the next target,
-dying in sunlight is also a myth, they just dont want ID'd
-a skake {not steak} to the heart kills everybody
-i dont think you can be born one, you choose your own fate not the other way around.
if this is confusing just tell me and ill edit it so you can understand better1

I feel exactly the same way. I want them to be real so bad because they have to be, right? Otherwise why would I be so drawn to them? But they cant be real, they're vampires - the rational side of me says.
I know mortal vampires are real, but the immortal ones - the ones you are so drawn to - I wish I had the answer. I want to say yes. I want to say I believe. But I'm just not certain and maybe that's why I dont know. If that made any sense at all.
I think it's really important to ask the right questions. Maybe asking, "are they real" isnt the right question and we should be focusing more on "where are they?" or "why am I so drawn to them?"
My draw to them is so strong I've written numerous book myself and spent sleepless nights (which are frequent for me) researching.
I suppose all I can really say is that I hope you find what you're looing for. Cause I know how you feel...

I think vampires are real in the subculture sense; people who use the romantic images of vampires in modern literature as inspiration for things like fashion and spirituality.
I have no issues with that, but I do wonder about the ones who get sucked in so far that they believe they're living out an Anne Rice novel. I think that's going too far and a strong dose of reality is needed. (Possibly along with a gentle reminder that adding richness and passion to one's own life is better than trying to escape the mundane by creating a melodramatic fantasy world.)

I was infatuated with the vampire thing myself but then my ex showed me 'Nesfaratu' (I'm not sure I'm spelling it right, it's a 20's (I think) silent film), then I started thinking of them as what they really are-zombies with pointy teeth, then I read 'The Historian' (btw, awesome book)-it does a great job of showing 'Vlad' as a disturbed, mean person.
I still am interested in the 'fun' side-one year I may even go to an Anne Rice Halloween party, but my fascination is gone. I never did see any myself but I have seen a few shows (History ch.) that go over the subject and list a few diseases that have symptoms that mimic vampire traits. There were some groups that claimed to drain energy, instead of blood.

You want a no bullshit answer...here is my opinion as a theologist, firm believer in reincarnation and for reasons I will not disclose...I can point you the right direction. I will answer with no bias and not giving a **** what people think of my answer. One...stop believing in hell. Hell is q made up Christian place to scare the **** out of you. Yes an underworld but not hell. Vampires are not immortal in the sense they have been portrayed. This is where reincarnation comes in. Once you are bit you are reborn over and over until you have completed whatever it is you were chosen by God himself to do. You then have the choice of coming back or staying whereever it is you will go after you leave the earthly plain. Once you are bit it is in your DNA until you are killed by a very nasty means and even then it still lingers. Vampires as you so like to call them are jumpers. If they are ready for a new life they move on to a new one in the past present or future.

lOl.. Well, look, people don't say that vampires are real, but I believe in them. You can become one unless you're born from vampire parents. No, your opinion is not appreciated.
I'm a huge vampire fan myself that people think I am one from how much I know about them. So, any questions/answers needed, you'll find with me... IM me and maybe we can talk bout the sub and become Vampire friends. lOl.

Vampires are a figment of people's imagination. There are too many vampire movies, I suppose. There are people, teens mostly, who dress like vampires in the movies and even have their teeth chiseled. That does not, however, make them vampires, since those creatures are total mythical.

Good topic! I have never personally met a blood sucking vamp, but I tell you what IS real -- PSYCHIC VAMPIRES! talk about sucking you dry. You have to be very careful too cause they are tricky & alot of the time they are your best friend or family!
