I'm looking for cover songs without drum tracks on them. I like to play along with my own drum set. I prefer Classic Rock songs...they don't even have to be by the band....like karaoke for my drum set. I have looked on the internet and can’t seem to find anything.

Well, that's a tough one. See, if a song doesn't have drums, chances are that it's a slow slow song that doesn't need drums.

Can't you play along with songs that have drums?

They sell drum practice DVD's that have songs without the drum track, if that's your thing. Or you could just find a guitarist and jam. That's what I'd do.

There are at least three methods to get drumless tracks:
1. The music scores for the songs you like may be at your local library or you can purchase them online or at a music store. Enter the scores using a scanner or by hand into a program like Sibelius or Encore. Play them back through a MIDI sampler (Roland XV2020 or equivalent) or keyboard. This approach gives you complete control over tempo. The downside is you lose the vocals.
2. Record the songs into ProTools, Cubase or other mixing/editing program. Use the filters on these programs to eliminate most of the drum track.
3. The great drummers (Dave Weckl, Anton Fig, Omar Hakim and many others) publish books with CD's. The CD's typically play the odd tracks with drums and even tracks without. This is the best method for improving your playing because the songs usually require a lot more than a backbeat.

If you want to improve you rudiment playing, the Savage Rudimental Workshop, by Matt Savage offers a book and CD with music tracks with the solo part on the left track and accompaniment on the right. This allows you to listen to the solo material, the accompaniement or both at the same time.
