In our area there is a program called Movies for Moms. My son was about 5 months old the first time we went (that was when the program started) and it was wonderful. Each month they would show a movie that did not have too much noise action, kept the sound down and left the lights on dim. There were a couple changing tables. Men were allowed also but nobody was allowed without a baby. It was the best 'me' time with my baby. We were able to breastfeed without being sneered at. If our babies cried nobody shushed them or got upset. We were even allowed to bring our own food. It was just a very pleasant morning. Unfortunately, once the babies can walk around it gets to hard to enjoy it.

Check with your local theaters and see if they have a special daytime showing for new moms with babies. Some do that, just so moms can get out and see a movie, and won't disturb other people when the baby starts crying. Sometimes just being surrounded by strangers will be enough to upset the child, not just the movie being loud. And some of the other people at the show will get very pissed off and be rude to you if the movie is interrupted by a crying baby.

I took my daughter to the movies a few times when she was between the ages of 4 and 6 months. I kept her in the baby bjorn and she mostly slept, when she woke up I would just nurse her and she would go back to sleep. She never cried once. We tried to take her again when she was about your daughters age and it was awful. She wasn't loud but she wouldn't sit still (she was already walking so this could make a difference) and my husband and I had to take turns following her around and take breaks out in the lobby when she got really bored. I don't feel like we really bothered anyone else but neither of us got to enjoy the movie at all. I would highly recommend a baby sitter.

I took my 7 month old to a kid's movie (with my 2 yr. old). He lasted about 25 minutes and then was a squirmer. I had him in the baby b'jorn so he was manageable. And as it turned out, my 2 yr. old lost interest 35 minutes into the show. So we left. My friend has told me she used to take her son to the movies, starting when he was 4 months old all the way up to 10 months. She said he was as happy just to sit on her lap. When he was 8 months old she said she starting feeding him cheerios at the theater. I think it depends on your child's temperament. I would pay attention to the volume though. Some theaters are really loud. That's not good for the baby's hearing.

Yes, many times at all ages--the younger the better. A baby who is a few weeks old is the easiest, but I've done it with babies from a month to 2 years old. The real trick is to nurse almost constantly during the movie; then baby is happy, and nobody will even know she's there!

I took one of my babies at 7 weeks and she slept right through the movie. It was a great night out for mommy. I took my youngest daughter along when I took her older brother to see Polar Express and she fussed, cried and screamed the whole time unless I was standing. Luckily there were only about 10 people in the theater (it was a matinee) but it kind of ruined the experience for my 3 yr old.

a lot of movie theaters do not allow babies. i learned this because i was a teenage mother and when my friends went to the movies, i couldn't because they wouldn't allow the baby. they do dissrupt movies and it probably just isn't the place of the theater to accomadate them. once my daughter hit 2 years old and really could enjoy a cartoon, we took her to see a movie. but really until that age, they not really enjoy it anyway. stick to renting the movies for now or finding a baby-sitter so that you can go out and enjoy a movie on your own or with a loved one!!

I'd wait! Movies are very loud. A crying baby will disturb others watching the movie, and if you take her out, you will miss parts of the movie.
Take her to kiddie movies when she's older.

She's probably too little still, movies are loud and have bright flashing lights so she probably won't sleep through it. But if you want to try it you can, but make sure you leave right away if she is making any noise. You might end up missing the movie.

i have not tried it either. My son is 10-months old and i have a 5 year old. I just hate to waste the money on tickets and him scream the whole time. I do not think it is to loud, but i do not think mine would sit through a whole movie.
