mine is final fantisy VII, because sephiroth is the coolest boss. but thats just me

There are reasons for any of the fianl fantasy games to be the best, but it just depends on what you value in a game.
FF7 is a little overrated, and I'm not saying it's not my favorite game ever, because it is, but I will admit that it's overatted. It's the first game that squaresoft released on the Playstation, and the PS1 was one of the first consoles which were widely distributed, and almost everyone had one. The story was epic, gameplay was amazing, and it was probably your first RPG you ever played.
ff8 had excellent ideas, the story sucked. The card game was addicting, the summons were a nice touch, but the whole time travel thing was stupid and confusing.
I played ten minutes of ff9, and as soon as I got to a save point i threw the controller and said "THE MOGS ARE SAVE POINTS!!!! THAT'S STUPID" with a few swear words in there.
ffX was also a hit mainly because it was a new platform. Animation was awesome, and the many surprises in it were impossible to guess at. I never knew they could make me cry harder then when Aeris died, but they did. In this game, you HAD to use everyone, or you would have nothing. Story was brilliant.
As far as sequels go, ff10-2 was pretty good, and was completely different, gameplay-wise. It was a good concept, making a sequel, and telling how the world was after the fall of Sin. And it was chick friendly, you gotta give them credit for trying to get chicks to be nerds.
I refused to play a ff online, so that's all I got.

For me, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for Game Boy when I'm traveling and bored.

I agree VII had a great story, and about the right amount of cut scenes, the later series almost had to many

Tactics for the PS might have been a little hard to keep up with, but its still one of my favorites after FF7 and FFX

7 is one of the best stories. 10 has a pretty good story as well. as for gameplay, it's a toss up between tactics and 7.

Final Fantasy 2 b/c of the moon, I mean how cool is that? Travelling to the moon to kick bad guy butt!

FFVII towers all. It's the only game they made a "movie" about, and I believe is in the process of making a prequel video game (Before Crisis).

my fave final fantasy game is final fantasy x-2 cause my fave character is Yuna.
