Impossible. Japan relies on the U.S. for agricultural products, while the U.S. relies on Japan for consumer products. Discontinuation of trade between the two countries would not only be devastating to the two economies, but to the rest of the world, too.

unlikely, since there is a great demand for their quality products and designs. however, they are doing more outsourcing in the past few years. right now, it seems china is dominating foreign trade, but i think that is because most of their products are cheap.

japan is so dependent from trade - especially with usa - that this would be some kind of suicide...
