Well, a lot of females say they're fat because they have an image in their minds of what would be the 'perfect body'. There are magazines and actressess that portray skinny or 'perfect' bodies. Not everyone can be like that. Women need to accept what they look like eventually, because they are beautiful no matter what.

They're looking for reassurance, why don't you want to give it to them? They asked if they are fat the answer is no so you're the one saying something that isn't true they're just asking a question. Better to say "No, you're not" and then explain WHY it annoys you that they ask because in your opinion the answer is obvious ... this is reassuring AND might stop them asking. Sometimes you feel fat and girls go off feelings more than visuals.

It's most likely because of the female body image that's promoted in the media that they view (televisions, magazines, and whatnot). The women in such media are almost always thin to an unhealthy degree, and yet this body image is so pervasive that many young women and teenagers are led to believe that it is not only normal, but desireable.

Because the media has put up such an impossible standard where people who are of normal weight are percieved as fat.
Also this is a symptom of Anorexia Nervosa. You might want to get a pamphlet on it from any mental health agency and give it to them.

Hollywood makes people think they need to look like a skeleton to be pretty. I'm 5'4" and 125 pounds and even I sometimes think I should lose a few. It's sad, but it's a hard thing to overcome psychologically.

1) Because the media is full of underweight models & actresses and spreads the belief that unless you have a perfect body, no one will ever like you, ever, for any reason
2) Because if a girl expresses that she actually likes her body, she will be seen as a stuck-up b*tch
3) They may just want to be reassured that they look good

We want to be perfect and we want to look like what the world says beauty is. We judge ourselves by what's in the magazines not realizing beauty is in the "I" of the beholder.

well at first they are fine but like magazines make them feel like they have to look like the model when the body itself is not real. other times, a girl is teased by another girl, and they get all down about it. girls can be so mean at times.
