Old school cricketer's I reckon Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, or Ian Botham are in with a shout. But for the more modern day Cricketers you've got to include the likes of Shaun Pollock and Freddie Flintoff.
But personally I think Sir Richard Hadlee who broke all the records in a fairly average team when he captured 431 and scored 3000 Test Runs just about caps it for me?
For me it was ole Kapil Dev, great Indian Bowler, agreeable in his time he was not thought the same as Beefy or Imran but was a class act and I watched him a couple of times and he was just amazing.
His bowling was not as good as as hadlee but his accuracy and ability to swing the ball was immense. What I like about him was he played cricket uncomplicated.

Ricky Ponting is the best player of 2005-06 and he also received an award.
The thing that has got him into that place is his ability to good innings in most of the matches besides doing captaincy.
