female hamsters usually tend to have a higher stink to their urine
males, though, pee alot more
change it weekly
the hamster may need to be fed some apple slices or watermelon rines
it usually decreases the smell of the urine although hamsters are generally smelly animals

First of all, do NOT use ANY type of wood shavings that have been treated. It can cause respiratory problems. I have a guinea pig and would suggest using Carefresh bedding. It isn't treated in any way (with oils or anything) and it is the most absorbant product I have come across! And secondly, someone told you to use bleach to clean the hamster cage. DON'T use bleach! Use a natural cleaner, like white vinegar. Another suggestion is to "spot clean" the cage, which means taking out any soiled areas between the weekly/biweekly cleanings.

Let him clean the rest also.
OK pun intended. But I really mean the cage should be cleaned not just changed. If the job took under 5 minutes......use bleach rinse and dry. Then put in the new stuff.
Maybe you could use some pressed wood dust pellets to absorb the nasty smells. Don't go kitty litter because that will cause problems. Not with most animals but hamsters will make a terible mess of it.

do not use cedar or pine, those at the instantaneous are not acceptable contact beddings for rodents. i ought to attempt employing strong Mews or different paper pelleted cat muddle (such as yesterdays information). that's made from recycled newspaper and fairly sucks the scent out. that's no longer that delicate so that you're going to favor to blend it with something like rice hulls, aspen, or eco bedding. (Infact eco bedding is likewise an mind-blowing bedding to apply. they prefer to burrow in it plus it facilitates administration odors besides.) you would possibly want to in ordinary words ought to sparkling once a week in case you employ each and every one of those bedding. make efficient you do sparkling the cage weekly with all of their furniture besides.

Place a small dixie cup of vinegar, half-full, near (but not easily knocked over) - it'll absorb the odors in the room.

well, maybe it's the hamster. or the smell has seeped into the cage when the hamster does his buisness. you should go over to like petsmart or petco or wherever you go, and ask somebody what you should do.
