Notice how most of the answers are either hateful nonsense or silly caricatures?

How can we ever come to agreement until we are willing to really understand the other side?

I am a conservative. I stand for...

Helping the poor with a hand up...not a hand out. No one has the right to a free ride, supported by increased taxes. Don't fool yourselves...we ALL pay taxes rich and poor alike.

Lower taxes...even a flat rate tax across the board.

I favor programs that help minorities get ahead in life, but not at the expense of everyone else. If you want to go to college, I favor a plan to help poor students with tuition and scholarships, but only if you earn the grade and work hard. Otherwise, don't complain, life is not a free ride.... work for what you want.

Privatization of social security. Let me be responsible for my own money. If I blow it...oh well. It's not the governments responsibility to take care of me...it's my own.

Less government.

Tighter controls on government spending, and regulation of new programs geared to help only a small group of society.

Stricter controls on illegal immigration.

Anti death penalty

Pro family

Pro life

Anti war...but I do support my troops and my President. I am aware that war is something that is sometimes necessary but would like to see a time when war is no longer necessary.
I want a strong military, one capable of defending my country.

I favor strong family values, but don't believe in gays adopting children. Don't confuse me with being anti gay. I have a few friends who are and they are very nice people, but I favor a traditional nuclear family as the best way to raise a child.

I love my country, good points and bad. I'm patriotic, moralistic, love my husband and family, I go to church and worship my God.

I believe in religious tolerance. Please don't make me take down my crosses or menorahs because you don't believe in religion.

I'm for everyone getting along and tolerating each others diversity. We are not all the same, don't try to make us clones. How boring would that be.

ok, here's another attempt at a civil, less goofy answer...

resistant to change
opposed to liberal reforms
cautious: avoiding excess; "a conservative estimate"
button-down: unimaginatively conventional; "a colorful character in the buttoned-down, dull-grey world of business"- Newsweek
a person who has conservative ideas or opinions

- Less govenrnment and more focus on the individual
- tend to be more "hawkish"
- favor big business vs. "the little guy"
- does not favor social programs
- Tends to favor smaller taxes burden.
- Tend to focus on "moral" issues and moral orthodoxy (except when comes to caring for the poor-- hmmm).

From my point of view a Conservative is for big business ( Corporations ) no unions , deregulation , lower taxes , legislating moral values , tight control of budgets . Now days they are also narrow mined , with tunnel vision . I liked them more 50 yrs ago .

A bigot, ignorant, fascist, nazi, close, narrow minded person who feels they are 'entitled' to a better life than others for no reason whatsoever. 80% of the wealth in the USA was inherited but the ones of them who are conservatives act as though they worked hard for their wealth, judging the poor and saying things like 'why should I have to pay for their social programs."

A stupid *** person who believes in cutting taxes so much that thanks to the freaking tax cuts, states like New Jersey are out of money, and are therefore having lots of problems.

They are close minded people, and uless you are a Christian, White male, you aren't welcome. They don't accept LGBT people, immigrants, and other such.

The believe in increasing their pay by a ton, but they won't bother to help the American people by raising the minimum wage.

they are bigots, facists, racist people, homophobic, close minded people, and I WOULD NEVER vote for a Republican.
