1- Switch to a more egalitarian economic system that guarantees true equality of opportunity and in which profits are given according to the effort made, and not according to the social class you are born in.
2- Microcredits.
3- Education for all. Healthcare for all. Means of production for all. True equality of opportunity. I cannot emphasize this enough.
4- Fighting dictatorship and corruption.
5- Promoting charities and more egalitarians conceptions about the world.
6- Denouncing acts of corruption or profit-at-the-expense of others when we see it.
7- Having a truly free press that shows the harsh reality of things and is uncompromising.

I guess i feel it will never totally end but microenterprise ala the grameen bank is the best method to decrease poverty.
