Well SAHMs (stay at home moms) work 24/7... but with so much greater rewards than a paycheck. I'm only working until I become a mother, then my husband will the the breadwinner of the household... so no, I won't be employed outside the home for 2/3rds of my life.
Someone who was the breadwinner in his or her household, though, would probably work that much at least. Start by the time you're an adult, 18 or 19 at the latest, and keep working until you can retire... probably averages out to around 2/3rds.

Not me! That is why I took a business opprotunity. I would rather work hard for 35 months building my business, then 35 years working for someone else. That is the best way to go. If you are lucky, like I was and find a business that has a small start up fee, $49 and is right on the penetration point where it about to sky rocket, then you will not work 2/3's of your life!

Assuming you work a normal 8 hour day, 5 days a week. That's 40 hours out of a possible 168, or just under 24% of the time.
Typically you get 21 days annual leave in a year, and let's just assume a week of public holidays in total. That's 4 weeks out of 52 weeks in a year that you don't work.
So in a year you only work 24% of the week for 48 weeks. That's a total of about 11.5 weeks of work at a stretch in a year. 11.5 weeks out of 52 weeks in a year works out to about 22% of the time.
Say you get your first job at 18 and retire at 65, and assume the average life expectancy is 80. So you would only work 47 years out of 80, and in those 47 years you work for a total of 22% of the time. That's only 12.9% of your total life.
So why do you think we work 2/3 of our lives? So chin up, breathe in deep and get you nose back down to the grindstone!

I suppose what is important is to find a career rather then a job. Something you can invest in. That's when you will stop dreading. I love where I am at right now. My boss is one of the greatest leaders I've ever met and it's truly a joy to work with him.

I love my boss and sunny days are best spent inside when it is over 90degrees outside. Try real estate or sales if you want to be out and doing your own thing with minimal to no supervision if you are not an entrepreneur.

Try working for yourself! No paid holidays-no pension that you don`t pay twice its value for-work to the day you die! [unless you spend your last six days on a trolley in the annex to the casuality department.] Get a life!

The best job is one that you enjoy doing no matter what the weather is like. I am an RN and I enjoy what I do no matter what the day is like or even what day it is.
