The official word on LCD cleaning in Apple manuals is to use a solution of diluted isopropyl alcohol, no more than a 50% solution. Usually the rubbing alcohol you buy at a drugstore that is either 90% or 98% pure but 98% is pretty hard to get (you don't need it anyway). I mix 1 part water and 1 part 90% isopropyl alcohol, which works out to... um.. something just under a 50% solution.
Be absolutely sure to use a very VERY soft cloth. I use a piece of soft flannel. Do NOT use paper towels or anything more abrasive than an old worn out cotton Tshirt. Absolutely do NOT use windex or anything with ammonia in it, it can etch the screen surface and can cause the plastic to go cloudy. You don't want that to happen!
BTW, there is a commercial cleaning solution called something like Klear-Screen, it's pretty expensive. It is merely a 50% solution of isopropyl alcohol and water. Just like I make, for a fraction of the cost.

Get a soft cloth and dampen it with a little bit of rubbing alcohol and wipe it gently. The alcohol is good because it evaporates quicker than anything else such as water, and won't mess it up if you use too much. Plus, it won't harm your keys if some of it happens to drip down in them. You don't want it running off your screen though. The soft cloth will help keep your monitor from becoming scratched. Don't ever touch it with your fingers, especially if it's one of those really soft type screens that has a sort of gel behind it. If you touch it, and it changes colors, then that's the type of screen you don't want to touch. You can still clean it in the way mentioned above though, if you're careful not to press on it too hard.

WARNING! Be very careful cleaning any LCD screen. Pressing on it too hard can cause bad spots in it.
The computers here have small sheet of plexiglass taped to the front of the monitor to keep people from touching the LCD screen. They used double-faced tape for this like you use for holding down carpeting.

I use warm water to dampen a soft cloth. Don't spray water or cleaner directly on the screen to avoid liquid dripping inside the screen edges...

Get either Endust electronics wipes or the wipes for cleaning your glasses from the Wal Mart optical center. They are really cheap and work well.

They have these damp clothes that you will find in the electronic section in most stores, try those. Or a wet nap
