A truth that draws a tear because the lie will be found out one day and it will bring much more than a tear.

Well, if the truth draws a tear then likely it needed to be finally heard by the person about to cry.

If it's a 'white' lie that draws a smile, that is okay, for example, a wife asking her husband if she looks fat in her new dress, he should wisely say "no" even if she actually does look fat. It is not harmonious to unnecessarily be blunt with the truth all the time.

If a truly dishonest lie draws a smile then don't just blame the liar, but factor in the naivety and/or vanity of the smiler.

Truth that draws a tear.. It will be a tear of the moment instead of ignorance of a lifetime (if it is something really serious)
" When ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise" a philosopher said :P
So always be honest and demand honesty from the rest around you..

To me, it depends on the seriousness of the situation. Normally, I'd say that truth is the best policy. If someone asks you if you like their new dress, you've got to say something positive, although it's the ugliest thing you ever saw. For something more serious, tell the truth.
