If you don't have a site set up in dreamweaver do that, all of your site files should be in one folder
In the site editor choose remote info
Enter the ftp address, user name and password you were given, leave the default options as they are, usless your host says otherwise, hit the test key to test the connection
if the connection works - right click on the site main folde in the files pane and choose synchronize, if you use a firewall that may cause problems, you'll be able to tell by it having difficulty connecting even though the test connection worked, if so just disable the firewall while you upload.

In Dreamweaver you can, at the left side, in the explorer pane setup the remote server, your webhost. After you just tell dreamweaver to synchronize the files
Helmut
PS: You also can download for free SMARTftp or wsFTP to upload the files like you would copy them in Explorer

The host directory is more often than not labeled as www/htdocs/or public_html this is just the folder your host has outlined to incorporate your internet site. It is by and large some of the prime three or you would just depart it blank relying on the host
