this is a REALLY big thing, i mean they even have professional lip readers!! they say that Materazzi insulted Zidane's sister, told him 2 f*** off and also sed that Zidane didn't deserve 2 play 4 France (coz of his Algerian heritage). And Materazzi called him a terrorist. Materazzi says that he tweaked Zidane's nipple, then Zidane sed "if u want my shirt so much, i'll give it 2 u after the game". The Materazzi sed "I'd rather have the shirt off your woman", meaning Zidane's wife, Veronique. Materazzi also says that he doesn't even kno wat 'terrorist' means.
My Verdict: they should both have been sent off

Zinedine Zidane has apologised for his headbutt on Italian defender Marco Materazzi in Sunday's World Cup final.

But the French legend does not regret his actions, alleging on television that Materazzi provoked him by insulting both his mother and sister.

"It was inexcusable. I apologise," said the 34-year-old Zidane. "But I can't regret what I did because it would mean that he was right to say all that."

Materazzi responded by denying he said anything about Zidane's mother. there you have it

Thats what French striker David Trezeguet (he was right behind Zidane when it happened) After Materazzi holded on Zidans jersey: Zidane: Watch your hands litle boy! Materazzi: In your Dreams. Zidane: Thats only the way you can stop me, we will win on penalties anyway, then you will find your hands a better occupation. Materazzi: In your dreams, in one hour when we win a World Cup your mom gonna suck my b..ls.

I don't usually back violence but I back zidane all then way. That Italian deserved everything he got and more. I really feel for the Zidane. I love the French. And yes I'm British before anyone starts throwing racist remarks around!

something in italian about finding zidane's bald head irresistably attractive, and would he please rub it all over his chest, which, by some freak of nature, translates into french as something about zidane's mother having serviced the entire 4th brigade of the 2nd division of the italian national fascist army during the slightly breezier months of ww ii, resulting, of course, in the lucky coincidence, for materazzi at least, in that, while these two things mean rather quite unrelated things, nonetheless, in the end, the desired outcome was achieved.

I don't even like soccer, but I saw that several lip readers confirmed he said, "I wish your family a horrible death."

This on the same day that Zidane received news that his mother is seriously ill.

I don't know about you, but if that is true, and someone had said that to me, a headbutt in the chest would have been the least of his pain.

Materazzi said "lets pretend to exchange words, then you can headbutt me and we can get everyone out there to talk about us instead of getting on with their puny lives"

He probably said something along the lines of "vaff**&^&culo a te E il tuo dio" or something close to it with "sorella e mamma". Probably came out reeally easily, probably a generic insult from a footballer in one sexist culture to another. Matterazzi is no genius: he didn't fish around for the greatest, most on target insult in the world to make Zizou lose it. I bet it came effortlessly.
