I think it exploits all who are involved.
We also shouldn't overlook the people who are hurt by men who go to strip clubs and so on. Their family's money is being spent on something that doesn't promote a good relationship between that man and his wife.
What about when the stripper or porn star is too old to make any more money at it? How will she feel about herself--that she was only valuable while she was young?
What about the women who do not meet the physical standard to be a porn star or stripper? It hurts them by setting an impossible ideal to live up to as more and more men turn to porn and strippers for entertainment.
And the men, yeah, it is sad when they really want a relationship, but don't have the looks, money, personality whatever to have one, and are forced to rely on a facimile. Perhaps if it didn't exist, and everyone was more real, relationships would have more of a chance.
Just my opinion. :-)

I think it fills a gap in the market and just as there will always be a market for this sort of thing there will also always be people who are interested making money in this way.
I don't think the men are being exploited, they make a choice about what they spend their money on.
There have been some interesting documentaries on the TV recently which show that it is not about exploitation at all... Adam Glasser for example seeing some of the films he is involved with you may think they are degrading to women and yet in the documentary series you actually see him interviewing women and making sure they are right for the job and actually trying to put some people off doing it if he thinks they are there for the wrong reasons.
Anna Span is a female porn director who is at the other end of the scale and she definitely can't be accused of exploiting women as she is one herself. I saw a documentary where she said she wouldn't ask any of her actors to do anything that she wouldn't do herself.
I used to be really anti all this stuff but experience and real life have changed my point of view a bit. Having said that I still would hate it if my husband went to see a strip show or to a lapdancing bar. To me that's all a bit too "hands on".
I am no longer worried about porn at all.

Well there is nothing wrong with porn or strippers or lapdancers.
It's honest work and if anybody is underpaid in these industries it's the men.Hard to believe but Ron Jeremy has been in the business for 30 years and most girls on there 1st day in the business will earn 5 times more than him for 1 scene.
I agree with you on the whole decision making thing.
Porn is a perfectly natural thing to watch so long as kids and animals are NOT used in any way thats just sick

10 years ago I would say yes. Since that time the industry is dominated by women as directors and producers and it has gotten better. There is still exploitation that goes on in the xxx movie industry. Most porn is designed for men, but now it is crossing into most life styles. In the end it is all about personal choices.

I think the very notion that it exploits women specifically is sexist. I also think that it is only exploitative generally in cases where the subject of the pornography is not rationally involved in the decision process - children, spy cams, human trafficking victims, stuff like that. I don't think the 'men' you mention are necessarily being exploited - it seems like age old supply and demand to me; and that they, like their suppliers, are freely parting with money for some form of service.
I think most people are way too hung up on this stuff.

when i first read your ? I said on not at all it is the people who are paying for it who are being exploited and if the performers want to do it it is not demoralizing them because if they want to do it then there morals allow them to do it it is the people who are forced into it who's morals are being shredded like I don't know this for a fact but I hear that in countries similar to Vietnam children are made to become strippers or prostitutes now that IS demoralizing

Not at all, mainstream porn however is an insult to humanity on the whole for the simple fact that it tailors to a particular type of man and only to male fantasy.
Many women in the mainstream pornography industry have surgery on their genitals and breasts to fit a certain image, wear a tone of make-up, and most disturbingly orgasm from the very touch of a man – only around 30% of women orgasm from penetrative sex alone. This does tend to cause problems (along with mainstream media who do the same only to a lesser extent) because it makes those watching porn believe that penetrative sex is the only form of sex, so ignoring other forms of sex and ignoring that most women do not orgasm from the things featured in such films. This is an issue for both men and women; certainly it is not purely insulting to women, anything that says sex should be a certain way is going to result in damage to both sexes because it involves both sexes. This is my only issue with pornography.
I certainly have no issues against those who are in the sex industry, either from pole dancers and strippers through to prostitutes and whores, in fact knowing many such people myself I know a lot of sex workers – all those I do know are of the positive variety, who do this work out of respect for their own sexual power, who are empowered and understand that sex sells, not those who do it because they feel they have to or are forced into in one way or another.
Unfortanatly there are a lot of people who think badly of those who do work in these areas, it is these who cause the problems, certainly not the workers themselves - I think it is very sad that when it comes to issues of abuse it is the victims who are blamed, the strippers blamed for those cases where they are not doing this by choice or when strippers etc. are attacked by questionable people.

Porn/strippers may not always be demoralising for women - some may enjoy their work - but it is always exploitative!!Both the female body is exploited and a man's sexual peversions.
Women have much more to offer than just their body! - Men too.

I think strippers and lap dancers are over rated in England. One girl from my college is proud of what she is doing........"spreading her Fanee for money" thats disgraceful!
I mean come on, England has lots of job centres where she can find a decent job!
