I am a USA citizen. I think all Americans who watch television are influenced by TV advertisements. Any advertiser will tell you that there is a whole range of responses to TV ads. Some people react negatively. Some people react the way sponsors want them to react.
I, for example, am so annoyed by Citibank commercials re: credit card theft protection, that I would not consider applying for a Citibank card. Any company who bring out a new car and a new car ad immediately gets my attention. For every other product or service, it just depends.
As a result of ads, people learn more, want more and spend more.
