1. Get 3 boxes. One is for things you will donate to charity. The second is for things that don't belong in that room.(Dont empty out that box till you are done in that room or else you will get side-tracked.) The third is for things that should be thrown away.
2. Start with a small area like a hall closet or bathroom. Don't overdo it just one area a day or week depending on how much free time you have.
3. If you haven't used it in a year - give it to someone who will....If in doubt-throw it out!
4. Make sure everything has a place and always put it back there.
A cluttered house is directly realated to a cluttered life. This is the beginning of great things for you.

Well... firstly get healthy... take some vitamins and eat right for about a week.... then, you will wake up one day and feel very motivated...! Then, make a list of what the most urgent areas are. Once that is done, make a list of what each area needs to sort it out... like new shelves, a paint job or a cheerful rug. Very methodical things could include sorting out drawers and throwing out junk! Work through things one area at a time, one problem within that area at a time. If you are including redecorating, then choose a good colour [one that you love] and carry it through all the rooms, especially if your abode is smallish. Add splashes of other colours [also those you like!] and gradually you will achieve a house that is harmonious, pleasant and very organised!!
Remember to let your character shine through. Good luck!

oo look at pictures (or in person) of really organized houses, it's make you think 'wow i wish my house looked like this.' and then you'll get motivated. It's how I get motivated to do anything: if i wana loose weight i'll look at a magazine of girls with good bodies, and i'll think 'i want that.'

Set a schedule and stick to it. And think about where you set things down... tally up your different habits. Like, when you get home from work... where do you put your keys... where do you put your shoes when you take them off...etc. Also, look for your "problem areas". These are most likely where you spend most of your time. Like the computer area.
Once you have a list of your habits.... find a way for you to remedy those habits from causing clutter. Like maybe when you get home from grocery shopping, take the bags straight to the kitchen, instead of to the first hard surface in the house.
Also, nick-nacks are a great way to keep you from being able to put things down on certain sufaces.... so you would have to take things where they belong.
