Poeple fear that which they do not understand. A lot of straight people just cannot understand or relate to how a person can be attracted to someone of the same sex... it feels unnatural to them. For that reason, it threatens them. Condemnation comes from this collective fear and lack of understanding.
There was a time in this nation's history when people of color were condemned, and they had to deal with prejudice and bigotry. (Not to say that they don't still have to deal with it, mind you.) But now we can look back in history and realize how wrongly society treated these people, and we can learn and grow from that wisdom. Now, we are at a time in history when gays and lesbians are dealing with the same kind of prejudice and bigotry. Hopefully we as a society, will grow to realize that this is the case, and that, as the Declaration of Independence says, "All men are created equal". (I don't believe it says anything about all STRAIGHT men are created equal.)

The world started to openly condem gays when gays started to come out of the closet & shove their sexual orientation down everyones throats! When I meet someone & we are introduced, I see no reason to bring anything into the introduction other than name & a brief greeting. People usually don't care about other people's sexual orientation, unless they are sex addicts! There is a time & place for everything & announcing that you are gay makes you sound desperate & unsure of yourself to almost everyone, unless you are in a club setting.

The short answer is some people love to hate.
Some more closed-minded people answered the question with ridiculous statements. All gay people are not rapists or promiscuous. That is an INCORRECT STEREOTYPE. Gay people are not trying to influence, recruit or taint anyone or their children. Gay people, like all other people, are simply trying to live a happy life without people who are supposed to be religious picking apart the bible and throwing phrases at others to justify their own hate. If people used a fraction of the energy it takes to hate and tried to love, everyone would be better off.

Don't listen to Oklatom, because its simply NOT TRUE that most people don't care. To most people its "against" societies norms, even to "Oklatom" or he wouldn't have been so upset about it "being pushed in his face," would he? When was the last time you got in someones face yelling you were a queer? Lol. I never have.
Most christians and bigots (see "redundant") since most christians ARE bigots. They are afraid that someone somewhere will have fun and not feel guilty. Christ wasn't worried about gays, as HE NEVER SPOKE ABOUT US, EVER. He said not to concern ourselves about this world or those in it, but to concern ourselves about His Kingdom to come, which would last forever. However, since most christians are bigots as has been said, sadly these hypocrites have nothing better to do but worry about todays political situation and micromanaging todays world. Things they shouldn't even concern themselves with.

I don't condemn gays, but I am interested in the sexual orientation of others because I want to know if I wanted to engage in sexually intimate relations with a girl or a guy, would this be a feasible option, do I have a chance?

The world condems gays because our lifestyle is different from the way people who read the bible live their lives. they condem us because they think that we are sinners when they should first see that we are humans just like them. And being gay shouldn't make us less then them, because even in GODs eyes we are still his children.

It is going against nature and God. That is why it is frowned upon.
Their sexual orientation is between them and God. Not me. There are a lot of homosexual questions on here. It causes a lot of hateful questions and answers. Maybe, one day we will all be able to get along no matter what our choice's are. Maybe, people will let God do the judging and not themselves. Who knows, could happen...:)

Because you have kids and families and if you intend to bring
up children with morals, you have to know the sexual orientation of the person who is going to be around you and your family.
This will affect you and your children. Do you bring rapists home
and leave him or her with your children?
Do you make friends with sexual predators when you have
a young child in the home?
Do you want your children to grow up thinking sexual promisquity is correct behaviour?

i have in ordinary words been requested about my faith on clinical questioneers in the previous going into surgical operation. that continually made me a wee bit anxious. I easily were requested a barrage of questions about my sex existence even as i bypass to grant blood, which I understand. I purely tell them "i have been married for 13 years so mark all those sexual sex questions as non-proper". that continually receives relaxing.

Most don't care one way or the other. You say you are straight, do you announce that to everyone you meet? So why do some homosexuals have to be in my face telling me what they are? I really don't care to know.
