Because it is so special. It wouldn't be nearly as special if it didn't come without risk and pain.

It all goes back to Einstein's "theory of relativity", or E=MC2. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, if you fall in love and experience the extreme emotional high that goes with it, you run the risk of being emotionally crushed if that relationship fails. If you just fall in "like" with someone, the hurt isn't nearly as bad. It's all proportional, like the swinging pendulum. If you drop one ball on one side, one bounces out of the other side. If two are dropped, two bounce out. In this case, the balls can be related to your emotions. The more your emotions swing one way, the more they will swing the other way.

Life sucks.

That is how you know that it is love; if everything is always perfect and never hurtful, i would be slightly worried. Love hurts, wounds, scars, mars. You'll take a lot of pain, but remember one thing: even though love may hurt a lot, in the end, the love and affection that you gain will always be worth the heartache. My motto: one moment of love is worth a lifetime of heartache. Have faith; love has its ups and downs, but it is usually a sweet and pure sensation that you have never known before you meet the one. Good luck!

Pleasure and Pain.. thats all I can say. It wouldnt be love at all if you didnt experience it for what it;s worth and that's taking the good with the bad. Everybody here ask about love, but it is only what you make it. How much you endure and how you you sacrafice will determine how much you are actually in love. Its a beautiful thing once you've actually fallin in it!!

They say the only people who can hurt you are the people you love. Because when you love someone your emotions are in the forefront and intensified. It is what drives you. And if something goes wrong, it is the first that takes the blow, so to speak. And since it is 'intensified' (your emotions), the effect of pain is heightened as well.

Love hurts, love scars,
Love wounds, and marks,
Any heart, not tough,
Or strong, enough
To take a lot of pain,
Take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud
Holds a lot of rain
Love hurts, ooh ooh love hurts

Oh puhleeeeeze....

It isn't love that hurts. Love is great. What hurts is all of our unmet and unfulfilled expectations.

We expect love to make us happy and whole. It doesn't. We have to be happy and whole on our own.... then it is even better with someone else!

Love is not supposed to hurt, if it does you should see a counselor.

love is an emotion, just like stumping your toe will cause an emotion, it hurts sometime, even when everything is o.k. but remember this, if you find yourself dissolved because of love, prehaps love isn't the proper name for what you are expericening

Love hurts because we give it our all. We fall hook, line and sinker, giving the other person our whole heart and nothing less.
