Oooh! Sounds like fun! If you are doing a Dance Club theme, then try to decorate it like a NYC club. You can have a "Bouncer" at the entrance checking the guest list and that person can hand out party favors as everyone enters. Have a "bar" area where the non-alcoholic drinks will be (soda, juice, punch). Set up areas with chairs and small tables all around where you can place snacks. Have strobe lights and a disco ball, maybe some Christmas lights to hang all around (and inexpensive). Make sure to have a really good DJ to keep the music going all night. Also, something fun to motivate the guests to dance might be to hire a couple of dancers to get the ball rolling. Maybe they can choreograph a little dance number that everyone can learn and do together. (Check out local dance schools for teachers or older students willing to do the job for less than a professional). Don't forget to ask the party boy (15 year old) for his suggestions and for what is in right now so that it's not too cheesy or corny.

Why not give it a Saturday Night Fever or Dance Fever theme? You can always get great favors/decorations, etc.. for parties at www.orientaltrading.com or http://allamericandj.makesparties.com/Home.aspx

What type of dancing does he like?

You could set a theme up for him such as modern dance party, Saturday night fever or jazz party. Make sure you have a good dj or at least record selections and have appropriate supervision.

Well for a 15 year old all they really care about is music, food and hanging out. They could care less about decorations. I would just hire a DJ and have lots of food and pop. They pretty much do their own thing.

Sounds large to me you sound very cool in taking the time to easily set up party on your son. The party will be relaxing regardless, except all of us on the party hates one yet another and there is gossip. Do you've any water guns? that is exciting besides.

Put a Disco ball in there with some strobes and get a very very good D.J. cause if you don't have a good D.J. the party sucks.
