I guess it's human nature for people to bash things that they are ignorant about. It seems the less they know, the louder they bash. For unknown reasons, because a Doctor tells them to, they put unnecessary chemicals into their bodies and don't even ask questions....The Doctor said so. Well, certain medications are indeed necessary for some illnesses and injuries, but it really blows my mind that people just blindly trust what the Doctor tells them. Yet Doctors, Herbalists, Nutritionists and Pharmacists are called Quacks if they prescribe medically validated alternative medicine.
I think one of the main problems is self-diagnosis, or misdiagnosis when it comes to herbal treatments. People can and do do a lot of damage to themselves if they have not done their homework. But on the flip side of that coin, I have lost 2 family members due to misdiagnosis from the medical profession, and one who is going down now due to over medicating for diabetes and it's related symptoms.
I will continue with alternative medicine as I have done my homework and have seen results not possible with pharmaceuticals.

The point is that herbal and homeopathic products haven't been proven to be effective by the FDA. The FDA considers them food and not drugs. I'm a pharmacist, and while I'm not completely against these products, I do not recommend them to my patients when they seek my advice because I have no data with which to support their efficacy - only testimonials. If you find an herbal supplement that works for you to treat whatever you want then by all means, use it! However, just because these products are labeled "natural" doesn't mean that they can't also harm your body with side-effects like prescription meds. It also does not mean that you can not overdose on them. In fact, many studies have shown that some herbal or natural products can cause serious health problems with even mild use.

I think naturapathic medicine will be coming into its own in the near future. Even major hospitals are embracing treatments which were "alternative" just a few years ago (acupuncture, massage, magnets, sound and color healing, etc.).
The big issue between allopathic and naturopathic approaches really seems to be in "medications." Pharmaceutical companies are so invested in what they do that they often cross the "fairness" line to protect (and maximize) profits. (E.g., the recent FDA conclusion that red yeast rice (sold OTC) cannot contain any active compounds that actually make it work, because one company has a patented medicine that uses those compounds.
Instead of choosing either "conventional" or "alternative" as wonderful and castigating the other as worthless, it helps to recognize the inherent pros and cons of each, and be thoughtful about your own healthcare.
Naturopaths are making inroads every day. I started working with one just a couple of months ago, and have already accomplished more with diabetes than with several years of medication...but I am NOT going to stop taking medication yet. I'll see how the treaments work together, then wean myself off the drugs to the extent I can do so safely.
I love my naturopath, but love my doctor too!

Nothings wrong with it. Americans have just been conditioned to believe that doctors are the only ones that can heal you. This is because of the FDA. The FDA has made it illegal for me to make a website that says "Oranges heal scurvy!" (which it does) This is because they have made it illegal for anyone to say that a natural substance from the earth can heal someone. You can say it helps, but not heal.
The pharmaceutical business is a big business. And the money earned from it drips down into the pockets of most politicians.
go to www.cellhealthmakeover.com and read about GH3/Procaine... it will heal most diseases, even neurodegenerative. It is good for anyone in this day and age who's body is even slightly damaged from the chemicals we put in them.

I am not sure they are against it for some things but if my arm gets cut off I am not going to just rub an aloe Vera leaf on it and hope it grows back. I am going to the hospital and get some drugs and I mean like yesterday.

Apparently you do not understand the importance of pouring your hard earned money into the medical profession. It's people like you that make it difficult to own larger yachts. Shame on you

Is the result of years of mind conditioning.. that your medical doctor is supreme in knowledge of the body, etc. However, those who practice other than orthodox medical methods know, they are seeing people that medicine can't or doesn't help.
