Usually if you are tired and you can't get to sleep it is due to some emotionally unsolved problem you have, the problem is for some reason the brain hides it from yourself.

What you could try is instead of lying in your bed trying to get to sleep (because you will start worrying yourself more if it does not happen quickly). You should maybe get up and do something for 10 minutes, maybe watch tv, or go for a walk, or whatever
and then try to sleep .

Hopefully that will work for you.

Well, some of the best ways to fall asleep....

1.) do a job with manual labour
2.) exercise reguarly
3.) stop drinking caffienated bvg
4.) read the bible (puts me to sleep every time)
5.) listen to James Earl Jones read the bible...(he had such a lulling voice and this works much better than listening to music...puts me out in couple min flat...even when I'm really having trouble falling asleep)
6.) Drink something with warm milk in it (w/out caffiene)
7.) get a foot rub
8.) take a hot bath
9.) take a benydryl little while before you plan on going to bed
10.) make sure to avoid stressors
11.) Become more organized (a lot of people can't fall asleep b/c they're thinking about the next days events already...and such)
12.) Listen to whatever music relaxes you...'easy listening' not with a stong rhythm
13.) have a clean conscience (feeling guitly can keep you up)
14.) don't go to bed mad (if you have to, do something to help you forget what you are mad about ...for a little while...getting drunk doesnt count)
etc....

basically, find out what combination of these kind of things relaxes you... Its totally different for every person.

I dont know about you, but I frequently can't sleep because I'm too hot in bed. Get an air conditioner or have your fan blowing. If not, then drinking milk or a light snack sometimes helps me.

As you lie in bed, breath deeply through your nose and imagine a warm blue colour filling up your body from the soles of your feet to the top of you head with every inhalation.

When I have trouble sleeping I try to relax my body. I just concentrate on relaxing my toes, then my foot, then heel, then lower legs, then knees, etc. I'll fall asleep before I get finished sometimes.
