Say this to yourself when you move, "Step out of my comfort zone. Try something new, try something alone." When you get there, say this, "Step out of my comfort zone. Meet someone new, and admit to them you're in a new environment to strike up a conversation."
You'll have fun - through the nervousness, you'll meet many friends who will think "you" are so brave. Enjoy.

First of all, your basic nature is not one of being "on stage" so this will probably be difficult for you, but here goes. I am not an extrovert, either, but having worked in the public schools as a parent volunteer, I was encouraged by many to run for elected office.... requiring speeches, glad-handing, etc. Not what I wanted to do. I started attending a small intimate Toastmasters club, and began with short speeches and worked my way up. It taught me how to overcome the fears, and although I still do get butterflies when I am on the spot or on a stage, they are much more controlled. My very nature really hasn't changed. I am still quite introverted; I just know when I need to use my Toastmaster skills, now, and it helps a lot. There are Toastmasters clubs all over, it is an international non-profit organization. There are dues to pay to cover books and your guides, but after a year, you will likely be considered a Competant Toastmaster, and walk with your head a little higher. Good luck!

Now that you are moving you have the chance to start over again. You don't have to let know the people you're about to met, you're shy. When your introduced to someone try to talk about general topics, like music. Also, try to convince yourself that you can, everyday when you wake-up say to yourself, I'm able to interact with other people without being shy

Try going to a church social group, or joining a club of something that interests you. Fencing was fun for me, and let me work out and hang out with like-minded people. :) Take a step outside your box. If talking doesn't always work, push yourself. Answer questions in class, smile.
