Apple puts a lot of stuff in their computers, both in terms of hardware and software. Competitors' machines often look like they are much less expensive, but once you select all the options to make them truly equivalent to the Apple offering, then the price difference isn't that great.

The best way to determine if it's "worth it" is to consult consumer magazines, like Consumer Reports, PC Magazine, etc. They all routinely give the Apple products good reviews, as well as giving high marks for their product support. Don't overlook that aspect of your purchase. Finally, be honest with yourself about what you are going to do with the computer. If you want to do all of the things that the Apple computers are known for (digital photos, music, movies, etc. etc.), then it's a good option. If all you want to do is play computer games, then you might want to look at a PC.

Like the one guy said just depends on what you plan to do with it. Recently my husband and I said goodbye to our PC and hello to a Mac. We love it! It took a moment to get use to it, (no more ctrl c or v, rather apple c & v) but overall we're very happy with it. All the features that come along with it make it fun and easy to use. I still use a PC at work, but go home to a Mac. I don't think I'd ever go back to a PC at home.

Plus as far as PC programs the new Mac's have the intel chip so you do have the capability of still using those old PC programs you have.

depends on what your sole purpose of having a computer is. If you are into multimedia production or portability, then go apple. If you are looking for gaming or versatility, go PC.

But now Apple lets you emulate Windows, so you might want to consider that since you can't emulate apple on a PC.

Mac are not expensive, try comparing them with similar priced PCs. And they're worth it.

They are def better than PCs...plus they cant get infected with the .exe viruses than PC usuers can...the only downside is that in addition to viruses, you also cant run the programs that PCs can.
But most programs that you buy inclue another format for mac users to download.

yes they are -- if it's your first computer.

here's the deal -- if you're a PC person, then it is very hard to swtich over to a Mac. Likewise, if you're a Mac man, it's hard to switch over to a PC.
