It depends on if she has anyone else there to help her. Is your mother or mother in law coming to visit? My mom came to help me for a few weeks, then mother in law for a few weeks as my mom was leaving. hubby took a 1/2 week when i had our son (who was in the nicu) then went back to work because we needed money for bills. my mom was here though. i would not recommend leaving her without help for several weeks if you can afford to. if you can only afford a week or less, you need to call in some mom's or sisters to help.

Take off as many days as you are able. Being a parent for the first time is the most amazing experience - you won't want to miss the first days/weeks whatever. Your wife will need any help or support she can get. Not only will she be caring for a newborn but she will also be healing from the birth. Congratulations in advance! You are about to embark on the most wonderful journey of life's experiences!!!

My husband usually works while im in the hospital and stays with me at night. There's a shower there so why not use it. And then he takes about 1 1/2 weeks off starting with the day I come home. We have done this 2 times before and are getting ready to do it for a 3rd so it really works for us. Good Luck and congratulations!

It all depends on what line of work you are in and how much time you CAN take off. Do you have holidays that you can use?? If you can, take two weeks or longer, if not, take as many as you can. Just be there to help out and enjoy your baby, they grow up far too fast!

I had a c-section and I was in the hospital for five days, husband was with me the whole time and he was amazing. He wasn't able to take anymore time off, and worked nights so when I came home it was a struggle but we managed.

A week at the least. But I have heard a man can take off 6 weeks just like a woman can after the birth of a child. Check into it, ask his employer.

Depends on what the company is... I know one of the guys where i work, took 6 weeks, but he broke it up so that he was away for 2 or three weeks and then he takes a couple of weeks or days here and there

he may legally take up to 16 weeks just as she is only one person can take the time off so you can do the math as for how many days that is. I know when a parent dies employers give you 3 days to mourn I would use that as my guide and take 3 days to rejoice congratulations by the way

I had my daughter on a Thursday - we came home on Saturday - my husband went to work on Monday - I would NOT recommend this. I needed help and support - not to mention sleep and he was not there to help

if you can, take off two weeks - that will help your wife get used to taking care of the baby and help her get over some of the sleepless nights

Good luck with your baby!!

As many as he can afford too. Believe me your going to need the help. We planned on only 2 weeks off and we are now going on 6 weeks :) Have him take as much time as he can get!
