am gonna get married to a guy who is studying PhD. he doesnt work and only gets money from working in the uni as a TA. i will also do masters when we get married.he gets 18000 canadian dollars per yr and pays a total of 1100 every yr for tuition and housing. do u think we will be financially okay there in canada? any ideas or suggestions for how to make it work

Things could be difficult for awhile -- but it is temporary. Unless he is at the dissertation stage, you will finish your studies first. You may be the bread-winner for a couple of years.

You might try to get some educational loans.

I think you can make it work. After the guy gets a PhD., he will get a teaching position, which will be sweet. You just have to make it through this rough patch.

I don't know if the UK has any differences, but I know in the US, if you submitted under your maiden name you must use it to retain the title. Therefore, one option you have is to use your maiden name professionally (with your title and everything) and then use your husband's name personally. This is what the majority of women I know do. Hope that helps :)

Well, yeah, you can probably survive on that, but it won't be very exciting. Perhaps you should work for a couple of years before starting your Masters.

iff your going to school and he's almost done you should be more than fine times are rough at times but think how much more financially stable you'll both be once u finish schooling
