Nope, just people's imagination... Don't you think we would have seen one by now?

Being that I am of Welsh decent, my ancestors believed in Dragons. We have one on the Wales flag. The flag is white and green with a red dragon in the middle. In fact, just about every culture has a dragon feature somewhere in their culture. Humans, many believe, are the ones who exterminated the dragon as we did the Wooly Mammoth, the Sabretooth Tiger, The Doo-Doo Bird, and many others.

People back in the early days saw more fossils around than people of today, but they didn't know how to properly expose them without messing everything up. These fossils are probably what helped people in their belief of mythological beasts like the cyclops (from a mammoth or elephant skull), the serpents (from aquatic lizard fossils), the chimeras (dead squid perhaps), and the dragons (theropod fossils with outstretched arms).

Not any more sadly, the song is in past tense, and tells of his leaving our plane of existence:

Yeah...
Puff, the magic dragon,
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee.
Little Jackie Paper
Loved that rascal Puff,
And brought him strings and sealing wax
And other fancy stuff.
Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee. Oh!
Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee.
Together they would travel
On a boat with billowed sail.
Jackie kept a lookout perched
On Puff's gigantic tail.
Noble kings and princes
Would bow whenever they came,
Pirate ships would lower their flags
When Puff roared out his name. Oh!
Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee. Oh!
Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee.
A dragon lives forever,
But not little girls and boys.
Painted wings and giant rings
Make way for other toys.
One grey night it happened,
Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty dragon,
He ceased his fearless roar.
His head now bent in sorrow,
Green scales fell like rain,
And Puff no longer went to play
Along that cheery lane.
Without his life-long friend,
He could not be brave,
So Puff that mighty dragon
Sadly slipped into his cave.
Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee. Oh!
Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee
No...oh...Do you ever think about me anymore...no...yeah...say oh...

Yes I think they did exist. I think the dinasours were our dragons of legend. Just like every legend gets more incredible so did the stories of our ansectors of the mighty dragons (dinasours) that prowled the earth making thier lives hell. Imagine running across a T-Rex on your way to work, this would be just as scary as running across a dragon. And who knows maybe some of the dragons could spit fire, do you know they couldn't? It is for sure though that some of them could fly. Heres to dragons!!!!

yes... dragons are in every cultures myths. My guess they are either real creatures that have been hunted to extinction or they were just dinosaurs that managed to survive and evolve.

The other possiblity is that no they are mistakes made by early fossile hunters who misindentified dinos as dragons.

Dragons still exist on the astral plane. They are neat to have as spirit guides.

of course dragons exist. i'm born under the sign of the dragon (cheeroke calander) there are too many first hand accounts and sightings for it to be bunk, plus have you seen the kamodo dragons they are absolutely descended from the dragons of lore.
