You might not be thinking in this way - but I love baking up a batch of cookies, brownies, or fudge for my friends....they really appreciate it!! You could also get all the ingredients together for a dessert and put them all in a pretty basket (all but the wet ingredients) or put the ingredients of a cookie recipe in a jar and attach the directions. I love desserts and I don't know anyone who would turn down such a "sweet" and thoughtful gift! You could also put together an assortment of breads and jams together...etc...the possibilities are endless!
I've also made bath salts by combining Epsom salts with food coloring (to compliment their bathroom) and a soothing fragrance like lavender....and put it all in a pretty jar!

Baked goods, jellies & Jams, depending how much time &
money you want to invest. Hand sewn items are great. Dish towels to quilts. Fudge and cookies, there are so many wonderful
things one can make and they are so much better than a qift
you can buy. I am sure the receipient of your gift will be very
happy with it.
