Okay... books by Meg Cabot (hint: the kind of plots she writes are outrageous - in a good way. But the dialogue and everything else is true to life):
The Mediator Series:
-Shadowland
-Ninth Key
-Reunion
-Darkest Hour
-Haunted
-Twilight
1-800-WHERE-R-YOU Series:
-When Lightening Strikes
-Code Name Cassandra
-Safe House
-Sanctuary
The Princess Diaries Series. There are like 7 volumes, but about 12 books or something.

All American Girl and it's sequel Ready Or Not.

Teen Idol.

Avalon High

How to be Popular - isn't out yet. It'll be released soon, though.

Okay... Sarah Dessen books:
That Summer
Someone Like You
Dreamland
Keeping the Moon
This Lullaby
The Truth About Forever
Just Listen

Okay... Marianne Curley books (she writes teen supernatural-ish books. I love them):
The Guardians of Time Trilogy:
-The Named
-The Dark
-The Key

Old Magic

Also, anything by Caroline B. Cooney is good.

the aupairs series is unbelievably good if you like teen romance. Also you should read books written by Sarah Dessen. They are incredible. Try reading books by meg cabot, such as The Princess Diaries( absolutly nothing like the movies) and All American Girl.

The Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison (begin with Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging)

Outsiders:

An american classic great for teens to read, realistic, exciting about a gang rivalry and what it entails

Lord of the Flies:

Kids get abandoned on an island and turn into a crazy tribe and start killing each other. Crazy but good, read it in 8th grade

China boy:

Little chinese kid grows up in black neighborhood, beaten up all day till he learns how to box then whoops the biggest bullies ***.

Excellent

Every teen should read, and study Old man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway.

Some teens with appropriate supervision would benefit from Catcher in the rye.
