Yes, I have that addiction and it bothers my husband. Especially at night when I am on and he is trying to get some rest for work..If I am not on my computer then I am on the Internet on my phone which bothers me because it is limited. So If I can't be on either Then I am constantly thinking about what I am going to do the next time I get on the Internet.
I am definitely addicted to the Internet and I know it, which really makes it sad.
I don't know how to detox..But I would surely accept any information that may be helpful on these type of addictions.

Hey when your life falls apart you need to take it one day at a time. Accept what is and realize how much is your own outlook. Getting up in the morning helps. Staying away from harmful drugs, any drugs, is a good idea. Open up to people and don't keep it all inside. You may find that some people are very willing to listen to you and not judge you. Get to know yourself honestly and work on building a you that you like to spend time with. Get enough sleep and remember to eat. Utilize your time in a productive manner. Make it a point to talk politely to people you don't know. Anyways, I hope you didn't withdraw the question because you thought felt nobody would care.

It's only an addiction if it is adversely affecting other areas of your life (your relations to others, your other normal life pursuits, your career, etc.).
If you've got the time to spare and it's fun, don't worry about it.
If you're really concerned, get yourself some more outside interests. Set an alarm clock for how much time you really need to spend online, and get off as soon as the alarm goes off.

Yes! I have that addiction, as does my friend. I SO need to break that habit...school's coming up!
Whenever you are about to sign in, just go and read a book instead, or go out to the mall or something. Try to distract yourself from it--it's difficult, I know!

There is little hope for escape from this affliction... It's like the group America's song "Hotel California:" "...you can check out anytime you please... but you can NEVER leave!" [insert racuous, belly-laugh from the Devil, himself!] No, my guess is you think about being online even when you're not! Now imagine being stranded on an island, with no way of communicating with the outside world ... for years! Scary!
