It's a nice theory, it certainly *feels* true.

Probably just standing by their beliefs under attack as I've seen a lot ofemocrats do also. Why, did your mommy pamper you & never let you play sports with the rough kids & now you want to know why republicans are different than you?
Finding inadequasies in your opposition is a way of trying to knock down their agenda without having to face the valid points in their arguments. It's amateur sore loser tactics, and everyone knows it. There's plenty things wrong with you & me both as individuals, but I bet we could both put up strong arguments that have nothing to do with our flaws. Why do you think the very best people in our country refuse to run for office. The guy with a boy scout past has never faced & overcome the challenges that make them able to face bigger problems in govt. So basically, could you bring the debate level up a good bit higher than this?

In high school, I found that the most wussy, endomorphic of my classmates ended up embracing right-wing politics. I think this happened because they were in desperate need of boosting their egos by absorbing some kind of machismo by association with the mindless posturing of jingoistic fascists.
