Is it that films sell us dreams of exciting lives so we constantly think we should be enjoying every moment to the fullest, when the boring things need to be done, so should we be striving for excitement all the time or accept boredom and be happy

I very rarely get bored. Actually, this week I've hit a relatively low patch but I'm still up really late because I'm still excited, in a way.

When I worked, I found work incredibly boring. I don't think there are that many boring things that need to be done. I look at many people and think that they do too many unnecessarily boring things that they do.

But... I wonder if this relatively constant state of excitement, at being at quite a wired pitch, is actually just a cover for some sense of meaninglessness, ennui, depression in my life. I think this question hints at depression. Depression gets pigeonholed as a kind of illness or disorder of personality but I think it's something that applies to our whole culture (which is depressed) and the lack of meaning to any of the public rituals in our lives like, indeed, work.

And I think, maybe, that some people get away with saying they are always happy and that life's great because at quite a deep level they lie to themselves about this (and I maybe fit into this category).

Can one accept boredom and be happy? I don't really think so.

And stay committed to the responsibilities and primary jobs that are area of your existence now. also reexamine the sorts of meals you're eating and modify it to a fit eating regimen. and skim some good books, or watch some humorous videos. they say laughter is sweet medicine for the soul. also open up to to someone you've self belief, or if you're a believer than in God. yet a human chum is God with you right here in the international which could help you. good success and God bless you. I felt like you probably did even as i became 12 years previous yet now i'm previous 50! I have thought about this also, but I am sure that people 200 years ago got bored as well. But back then, people found other things to do. They contemplated things, talked more with neighbors, they didn't think about how crappy their life was. I think that everyone is too wrapped up in instant gratification today. But thats just what I think.

I seem to find im not bored. I am scared. Very scared. Of life, and people and just how big it all is. Step back, take in the big picture and get scared. You cant be bored if your scared.

75% of the time. But I don't dwell on it. The other 25% is just so much fun!

and you have to have the 75% otherwise, you will NEVER recognize the other 25%.

Then again your ratios may be different. :)
