They each cheat on each other then patch things up in some endless incestuous soap opera.

Some think that beauty = truth. This is an awfully simplistic view, since it in effect objectifies beauty. Aesthetics is the study of the *subjective* goals of art, and rarely concerns itself legitimately with truth. Beauty also should not be equated with prettiness. While aesthetics may tend to value goals such as balance of form, color, proportion, etc., these can be achieved even when the subject of the composition is painful, distasteful, controversial, violent, or downright disgusting. Truth is, amazingly enough, also a subjective matter, since there are very few universally agreed-upon truths.
Most academic-minded people shy away from "truth" in favor of verifiable and intersubjectively corroborated theories and laws. From this viewpoint, aesthetics can be studied using objective methodologies, and the study of beauty and art thus may be a kind of theoretical science, even though it is the study of subjective experience.

What a question.
Philosophers wrote HUGE books on this subject.
I feel unable to answer the question in this short format.
However I can point you to some books.
I recommend you start with "Critiques of the Power of of Judgment"[1] by Kant which deals with exactly these issues.
See what interests you and go from there.
Some other good Books:
"The Principles of Art" by R. G. Collingwood [2]
"What is art" By Tolstoy
And don't forget that even classics deal with art/beauty/truth question see "Republic" by Plato which contains some discussion about art.

Beauty and art do not relate to truth. If there was some truth in beauty it would be universal for truth implies universality. However, beauty is not universal and is different for every person.

beauty was the same as truth to the ancient greeks, and in courts of law, they often found the uglier person guilty, while holding that a beautiful person cannot be at fault. Beauty , in my opinion, is a personal truth for someone. When you see something beautiful you see no faults with it, and no flaws, and to you, it is perfect and true. Art is an attempt to combine beauty and truth
