As often as they want to and when ever they can. I would offer a little advice. While you are still young be open to sex with each other when ever the partner is interested in sex. The wife needs to realize that sometimes a husband wants a quick one with out a lot of foreplay and hugging before and after. That is how are system works do not hold it against us. The man needs to realize that if he is thoughtful lover his wife will really enjoy sex over a longer period of time. Talk often, tell each other what you like and dislike, and respect the other persons likes and dislikes. Believe me when you get old you will look back and wish that you had accomodated each other more often. Also, a fun experiment. Everytime you have sex during the first 2 years of marriage put a bean in a jar. After the second honeymoon instead of putting a bean in take a bean out everytime you have sex. They say you will never empty the jar the rest of your marriage.

It depends only because many factors can contribute to the lack or surplus of sexual activity.If any member of the couple has a demanding job,children,education pursuits etc..... I think the more important question would be how many times a day ,week or month a couple takes the time to let one another know they are appreciated and loved.

Hee hee! When first married, she and I got it on three to five times A DAY! The number is inexact because, hey man: who's counting?
We'd sometimes go the entire weekend without wearing a stitch of clothes and never leave the house. I'd say "So help me, I'll rape ya!" And she'd say "So rape me, I'll help ya!" Four kids later, we'd sorta slowed down a touch...

You should not have a count but dont over do yourself because after a while you get tired and when your relationship age a little you start looking outside the box..If you know what i mean
