Well, if by ignorant you mean uneducated, you could probably find a correct answer by researching which states have the lowest public school funding. That could then be broken down to a specific area. There are many parts of the country in which people could be considered 'ignorant'. The stereotypes regarding this problem do not help but only hinder finding a solution. It would be interesting to find out what part of the country therefore has fallen behind on the priority of education for all citizens.

What part are you from? It seems it'd be quite hard to prove one way or another, but if I really had to think about it...I would say places with small populations who rely on farming and cattle herding as a means of money. I say this only because they work incredibly hard away from TVs and whatnot, so they might not be as aware of what's going on in the world. To say that it's people from the South simply because we have accents is incredibly ignorant.

Ignunce is as american as apple pie. Despite all the redneck jokes, I don't think the south is any more or less ignunt than any other American region. What makes things worse is that a lot of the ignunce is from choosing to be that way, vs. "real" ignunce.

Judging by all these answers, it seems to be whomever one is biased toward. Ignorance is not so much stupid as it is untaught, unlearned, so I would say most people who let their bias and dislike keep them from seeing two sides, and possibly admitting that someone they dislike may have a valid argument.
