From what I have read in my opinion....Materazzi is
1. profoundly stupid
or
2. a really bad liar
He said he doesnt know what a terrorist is, therefore he could not have called Zidane that...
Lets analyse this:
After the Sep 11 attacks on New York and the 7/7 attacks, who in the galaxy does not know what a terrorist is?

R035 is right. We get passionate for WC but players are mostly jerks. Even champions (see Maradona who sniffed coke and had a child who looks exactly like him and did not recognise him - only now that the son turned 18 he agreed to meet him and said he was sorry for how jerk he was).

You are smart we should focus on Materazzi more. But you see, we will still focus on Zizou because he hasn't told us what was said. It's kind of like the entire soccer world is holding its breath while we wait to see what's going to happen. And I do agree with you that Materazzi shouldn't have said anything to him. He did start it. But you made a mistake in your post. Zizou said that he was sorry for his reaction, but not sorry and not regretful that he headbutted Materazzi, because he said that if he said that he regretted it that would have meant that it was ok for Materazzi to say what he said.
