As to Mickey's name change, who decided to change it and why? Just wanted to see how many others know about this.

GOOFY'S ORIGINAL NAME WAS DIPPY THE DAWG THEN DIPPY THE GOOF THEN GOOFY BECAUSE OF A RELEASE OF A CARTOON CALLED GOOFY AND WILBUR.
MICKEY'S ORIGINAL NAME WAS MORTIMER . THEN MICKEY ROONEY HAPPENED TO BE IN THE BUILDING AND WALKED INTO WALT'S ROOM AND THAT'S HOW THE NAME CAME ABOUT.

I think it might have actually been Michael. Mickey is generally short for Michael, so why not? George is Goofy's original name.

Because "Goofy" and Dog are synonymous? I mean, Donald, in no way alludes to the fact that he would be a duck and neither does Mickey but Goofy... All dogs are goofy!

Walt wanted to go with Mortimer but his wife Lily said no. Goofy's first appearance was as "Dippy Dawg"

I really did not know that the names changed...Goofy is strange because he's a dog(he is right?) and he has pluto as a pet (who is also a dog) thats like a giant human that walks on four legs keepimg a normal human as a pet. weird
