This is a good question but there is no easy answers. That is what makes Fantasy football so much fun. However, there a few general tips that will ensure you a good year.

Tip #1 --- Do a little research, Find out who was the big stars last year & who is expected to be big stars this year.
keep up on Off -Seasons moves , like trades . Also know Teams depth Charts .

Tip # 2 ---- Spend time on your Draft. It is the most important tool for a great season.

Tip # 3 ----know your scoring systems & Line-up rules , it is the key to how you should draft.

Tip # 4 ---- During the Draft , never follow a Run.
A Run is when a number of teams start drafting the same postion, then leave you feeling force to follow suit.

Tip # 5 ---- deveolp a Draft Plan & STICK TO IT.

A. Here are a few Good Draft Day strategies
1. The three-back strategy :This idea is simple -- you spend your first three draft picks on running backs, regardless of who's left at other positions when you pick. In most leagues, you will find that running backs are the most picked position early on in the draft as Fantasy teams scramble for guys who touch the ball 20 or more times a game.

2. Best player available :This one's pretty straightforward: When it's your turn to pick, take the player you think is the best on the board regardless of the position.

3.The sleeper strategy : In this you try to pick players with tons of upside that feel will have a break-out year.

4. Value Based Draft System (or VBD for short) : The system revolves around making detailed statistical projections for every draftable player base on your League scoring system. In it's simplest form: The value of a player is determined not by the number of points he scores, but by how much he outscores his peers at his particular position

These are all good plans but the key is, How much time are you willing to put into them & to STICK with them..

Tip # 6 --- during the Season, work the waivre wire. It is the best way to improve your team.

Tip # 7 ----- weight all Trades on your scoring sytems & the NFL remainding schedule. Look for the best fit for your team not just the latest One Game Wonders.

Tip # 8 -- is the most important ---- HAVE FUN ,
Winning is not Everything , But it is DAMM CLOSE!!!

I've been playing fantasy football since 1986.
I'm a superstar at this game and champion many times over.
I play around 10-20 leagues a year and know my stuff thoroughly.

Rule #1: Never ever leave the first round or worst case the second round without an RB. You must draft an RB early or your team is toast. Trust me on this one.

Now let me ask you how big is your league?
10 teams? 12? 14?
This could determine how to draft.

What does the starting roster look like?
1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1K 1D?
That's standard and deviations could also impact the draft.

How is the scoring?
Is it High Performance?
Meaning 1pt for 10 yards rush/rec and 25 yards pass, 6PT all TD's

Or is it P1 scoring?
Meaning 1pt for 20 yards rush/rec and 50 yards pass, 6PT all TD's except pass TD's are 4pts.

Is there 1 point per reception?
This moves the WR's wayyy up on the draft.

Let me know and then I can help you dust your rivals

Pick running backs first. I don't care if T.O. is available, get the RB's first. The reason why is because most fantasy leagues start two RB's every week, but in the NFL only one starts. So the productive RB's run out fast. They also score a lot of points.

Pick up quarterbacks and wide receivers next. Kicker and Defense should be your final picks in that order. Back-ups for your RB, QB, and WR are more important than back-ups for kicker and defense. So choose wisely.

Another thing to keep in mind is bye weeks. You don't want to draft 2 QB's with the same bye week. What's the purpose of a back-up if he has the same bye week as the starter?

Some good RB's are LaDainian Tomlinson, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, Tiki Barber, Edgerrin James, and Clinton Portis. I could go on, but then I'd have to charge you.

Goodluck!

First of all, if you get a chance, definitely take Ladanian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, or Tiki Barber. 3 great runningbacks that are the focus of their offense.

Quarterbacks are tricky, you can be a good quarterback like Brad Johnson and Ben Rothlisberger but just not have great stats for a fantasy football team. If you get a chance, go after Matt Hasselback, Drew Brees, or Jake Delhomme. Also can't go wrong with Michael vick, the guy is a freak athlete

WR's are easy to get. Top of the line would be Terrell owens, randy moss, steve smith, chad johnson. If you can get one of those, awesome, but if not, then Larry Fitzgerald, Joe Horn, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Anquan Boldin, Koren Robinson, Michael Clayton, Hines Ward are great options at WR.

TE's, i always pick Antonio Gates, and the last 2 years i have won, take that for what you want. take him early if you have to, he is unstoppable.

Defense: Bears are a good choice, as well as tampa bay, washington, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, and Carolina.

Kicker: Ryan Longwell is a steal, you can get him in one of the last rounds, don't bite for vinatiere, vanderjagt, or kasey, somebody will take those in early rounds.

Go to this site they have player projections weekly until early Sept.
when you draft I would take the best 2 RBs on the board with round 1-2 then with 3-4 best 2 WRs then TE QB K depending how many at each position you have to start. Don.t forget the BYE weeks

Draft Peyton Manning. Don't fall into the tyranny of picking all running backs high...Quarterbacks can win for you. Look for Manning unless you're picking first or second, then take Larry Johnson or Tomlinson.

Good luck...make sure you get good running backs. Look for players that aren't necessarily NFL stars but that put up good fantasy numbers (Eric Parker, Joe Jurevicious...if you don't know who these guys are, start studying.)
