Why can't I get the avatar I designed to replace the generic smiley face. I created it, saved it, named it. Did I miss a step?

Yes, you did. You just forgot to save it in the YAHOO ANSWERS page. (Q&A-"my avatar"-preview-submit)

Check off your avatar. Click the big picture. Then click the little picture on your favorites twice. Just to be sure, make sure it blinks.

Sometimes you have to wait. It happened with mine that I had to wait about an hour for the avatar to be updated. I know it sux but just be patient.

Click save changes. It will work then

up in the green bar ^^^^ there is a "my q&a" click on it...click on edit your profile..there will be a place there to uncheck the generic smily and add your avatar..
