My sister-in-law spent about 5 months trying to get service from Tiscali/Alice. They promised a modem and it never arrived... and all this time they were charging her for service. During all that time it was pretty near impossible to get a human on the phone. She was very frustrated and finally gave up on them and opened an account with club-internet. I think she's been a lot happier with them.

AOL offer whats suppose to be a very good service, Ive been with them for over a year now and suppose to have my account upgraded to 8mbs, Im currently getting ISDN speeds of 128 which totalys sucks, Its been over the 10 day period, When switching to BT test servers i get 5MB, AOL tell me i can actualy only get 3.5mb on this line, Ive been unable to get 1mb for about a month now, Tiscali is a terrable service, Offering Cheep BB to every one and any one, It goes down about once a week at lest, The USB modem has no sercurity and is actualy unable to suppose more then 2MB same with most USB devices on the internet, If i was you i would go with BT lest that way if there is a problem you can actualy get it sorted with in a few hours and not having to wait 5 days for a 3rd party to contact BT and report the problem, BT may cost a little more but there a little better then you would expect. Good speeds and good equipment, Capped service thou :( Hope this helps, You could check out a company online called Plusnet ive been told there good !

I've used AOL for a couple of years now & only had one problem with them a few months ago & they were really quick to resolve it. Not heard anything about Tiscali but there are loads of ISPs out there now.

If your are not hosting a web site from home Telewest/ blueyonder have the best service
I've tried them all (I mean here in the UK) BT Broadband are OK, but is not as fast and reliable as Telewest
One downside of Telewest, they never give a static IP or allow you to send emails from your DNS server-- I am using their dns server instead
The one advice i give you : don't use Bulldog service- they are expensive and they give you 2 meg out 4 meg the max
Good luck
